My Why

My Why

I, like so many others, have been affected by COVID. Prior to launching this homemade dog treat business, I was a teacher.  I loved my job and the kids, but COVID changed education in ways you couldn’t believe. Not only did the workload continuously increase but so did the behavior problems. It became too much for me. The workload was constantly impeding on my already limited family time. My anxiety had gotten so bad that I found myself crying most days. I would come home defeated and exhausted and then do it all again the next day. I just couldn’t do it anymore!  So with the encouragement of my husband I quit. I felt a tremdous weight lift off of my shoulders and I gained some new awareness of how conditioned I had become to “just do it” because we needed the money and I had no other marketable skills that I thought would sustain us. But, when we find ourselves in a situation where we feel we are not valued and blamed instead of supported, you begin to make peace a priority. Although terrifying, you make deliberate choices to protect your mental, emotional and spiritual health.

Two of my greatest passions have always been dogs and baking, so when I found myself searching for what would bring me the peace and joy I knew I deserved, baking for dogs was a no brainer. So my incredibly supportive and loving husband decided to do everything in his power to make my dream come true. We sold our house and decided to invest in growing our passion into a thriving business. I am currently embarking more seriously on this dream of mine, as I want nothing more than to make it a reality.

I make all of my gourmet dog treats with only fresh, human grade ingredients. I do not use any additives or preservatives. I am constantly searching for creative, fun and healthy treats for dogs. Jake, (my inspiration and mascot) loves acting as the quality control, taste tester for all the ideas I try out. He has loved everything I’ve made so far and so have our customers!

I am a one woman show, so I do all of the baking, packaging, labeling, shipping, events, social media, marketing, and sales. All but one of these skills is all new to me so I ask for your patience as I try and figure it all out.  I know that I am not the only one that makes homemade dog treats but I want nothing more than to provide people with a quality product and an affordable way to spoil their four legged family members just as much as we do!  I bake all of my products in my own kitchen and I truly love doing it. I love creating new and unique items (peanut butter pigs and canine cannoli) that both the dogs and their owners enjoy.

I’m aware that a lot of people think that this life changing decision is “unrealistic “ and unattainable but I want nothing more than to prove them wrong!  We all have something to offer the world and I am literally throwing everything I have out there in hopes of making dogs and their owners just a little happier!
